What is WYD?
World Youth Day is a unique opportunity for the young people of our Church to deepen their faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with millions of other young Catholics from around the world that gather to worship together. This event is a chance to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church.

Diocese of Knoxville Pilgrimage to Lisbon WYD 2023

The Diocese of Knoxville will be leading a pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2023. The video webinar goes over some planning and answers questions for those interested in going. Below is more information including registration, pricing, and the itinerary.

Fri. July 28: Depart for flight to Europe.Sat. July 29: Arrive in Lisbon. Head for Santarem, location of the Eucharistic Miracle. After, make our way to the Fatima area. Overnight near Fatima.
Sun. July 30: Spend the day in the Fatima area. Stations of the cross to Aljustrel, the village of the 3 children, visit Chapel of the Apparitions, and participate in the candlelight procession. Overnight near Fatima.
Mon. July 31: After breakfast we will head to Lisbon for a brief city tour and check into our hotel. Evening is free to explore this great city!
Tues. Aug 1: This morning, after breakfast you will have the opportunity to become familiar with the city of Lisbon. Perhaps a visit to the Church of St. Anthony or a walking tour of the old city. The afternoon will be the time for the Opening Mass.
Wed. Aug 2 – Fri. Aug 4: World Youth Day Events.
Sat. Aug 5: Mass with U.S. pilgrims followed by the vigil.
Sun. Aug 6: Closing Mass with the Holy Father. Free afternoon followed by a group dinner.
Mon. Aug 7: Recovery day in Lisbon
Tues. Aug 8: Depart for USA

Interested pilgrims outside of the age range of 18-35, please contact Paola Wolaver for more information.
Those under 18 interested in attending must be planning on traveling with an adult family member who can serve as chaperone.
