St. Augustine Church celebrates 75 years

St. Augustine Parish in Signal Mountain will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding on the weekend of Nov. 1-3.

On Friday, Nov. 1, there will be an All Saints Day Mass at 6 p.m., followed by a talk by Sister Mary Timothea Elliott, RSM, on the topic of “Called to Be Saints: The Universal Call to Holiness.” Sister Mary Timothea is director of the diocesan Office of Christian Formation.

The parish will have an All Souls Day Mass at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, followed by a prayer service at the parish’s columbarium. At 9:30 a.m., Sister Mary Timothea will lead a discussion on “Intentional Discipleship: The Work of the Parish.”

Bishop Richard F. Stika and St. Augustine pastor Father Joseph Kuzhupil, along with several former pastors of the parish, will celebrate an anniversary Mass at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Following Mass, Bishop Stika will dedicate the parish’s new multipurpose building and the its recently completed outdoor Stations of the Cross. A lunch and program celebrating the 75th anniversary will immediately follow the dedication.

All current and former parishioners are invited to attend.
