Position available: Part-time Extended Child Care Employee (less than 16 hours per week)

Daily expectations include leading children in daily activities, supervising snack and outdoor play, assisting children with day to day needs, maintaining a clean and friendly environment, and helping students with homework. Creativity and sense of humor is a big plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience implementing educational programming and working with students as a teacher, educational aide, after school care aide, nanny, or daycare assistant; experience supervising children in a group setting; have a great enjoyment of and rapport with children; communicate clearly with parents; high sense of professionalism; ability to be firm, respectful but loving in your discipline; Christian by faith and example, preferred.

Required Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age; overall good physical and mental condition (regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk to playground, speak, and hear); willing to complete CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment; pass a TBI fingerprint and background screening; attend a Virtus (child safety) training session and complete monthly bulletins; must be able to follow instructions and protocols in accordance with state law and St. Mary’s School guidelines

St. Mary’s School, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is accepting applications for an enthusiastic, full-time PK-8th grade Physical Education teacher/Athletic Director for the 2017-2018 school year. Applicants must be:

  • enthusiastic and interested in working with children, as well as covering subject matter
  • able to model behaviors expected from students
  • well-rounded, knowledgeable of physical education and coaching
  • interested in developing and improving our overall sports and athletics program
  • deeply committed to the education of our children.

The responsibilities for this position include instruction of elementary and middle school students in physical education/gym, coordination of calendars/coaches for sports teams, and on-site management of school facility during home sporting events.

Applicants must have great communication and organization skills and a solid physical education background. Work will be indoors and outdoors; some coaching experience and the ability to teach various sports desired. The candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, or equivalent post-baccalaureate work, and possess a valid Tennessee teaching certification. Individuals certified for Elementary/Middle Grades Education will be considered, but must be willing to add endorsement for Physical Education. Previous teaching experience required.

Sacred Heart Cathedral School, a diocesan Catholic school in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an Assistant Principal to start June 26, 2017.  Founded in 1956, Sacred Heart Cathedral School has 515 students in grades K-8 and an additional 120 students in our nursery and preschool. Sacred Heart is the largest elementary school in the Diocese of Knoxville.

The Assistant Principal will report to the Principal, will play a key role in the success of the school, and will join an outstanding faculty that includes a number of SHCS alumni. The Assistant Principal will work daily with the School Counselor, School Psychologist, School Chaplain, Director of Athletics, Director of Communications, Director of Admissions and Development, Director of Parish Operations and, of course, the Principal and Cathedral Pastor.  The Assistant Principal will be very involved in the day-to-day life of the school, including work with faculty, classroom observations and feedback, student life (including discipline), communication with parents, and overall administration of the school in conjunction with the Principal. The ultimate determination of duties will depend on the Assistant Principal’s experience and skills.

Ideal candidates will be practicing Catholics with a master’s degree, eligibility for an education administrator’s license in Tennessee, and some administrative experience.

This is a uniquely outstanding opportunity for the right candidate.  SHCS is eagerly awaiting the completion of a new cathedral that will open in March 2018 and the school recently went through a significant renovation.  With gratitude to God, the school launched this year a 1:1 laptop program, robotics, new extra curricular activities, and new offerings in arts and athletics.  The school is strengthening relationships with families, offering more opportunities for students and families to grow in faith, and investing in its pedagogy and results.
