Rosary for Life set for Jan. 11 in front of Planned Parenthood clinic

Dan McWilliams Catholic Church, News

Bishop Richard F. Stika invites East Tennessee Catholics to join Cardinal Justin Rigali for the fourth annual diocesan Rosary for Life at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic located immediately off of Interstate 40, exit 390, at 710 N. Cherry St. in Knoxville.

It is Bishop Stika’s hope that as many parishes and groups of the diocese will be represented as possible in offering a most visible witness of hope and love in the East Knoxville community. This will be the first time the annual Rosary for Life has been prayed in front of Planned Parenthood.

As many as 450 Catholic faithful have previously joined Bishop Stika or Cardinal Rigali in praying outside the abortion clinic on Concord Street in Knoxville. That clinic officially closed its doors on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Aug 15, 2012.

The Planned Parenthood clinic is located two blocks away from exit 390. Parking will be available off of North Cherry Street and Washington Avenue next to True Vine Baptist Church. Police will be directing traffic and ensuring safety. The group will gather on the public sidewalks and on the grass knoll on the property of the New Trinity Church of God in Christ immediately across from Planned Parenthood on Washington Avenue. Participants should try to be parked in place by 9:50 a.m. so that the rosary may begin promptly at 10 a.m.
