Catholic Committee on Scouting

The Mission and Purpose of the Diocese of Knoxville Catholic Committee on Scouting or DCCS is to give guidance, vitality and leadership in the spiritual phase of Scouting to all Catholic Scouts and Scouters of the Diocese. KDCCS who see as there mission the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of USA, American Heritage Girls, Campfire Boys and Girls, 4H Clubs, Boys and Girls Clubs of America,Troops of St. George and Trails Life USA as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our Diocese.

KDCCS will monitor and provide qualified councilors to administer the Catholic Religious Emblems program as well as oversee the nomination of adult religious awards for the Catholic Church of the Diocese. KDCCS will promote to all non-Catholic Scout and Scouter’s the Religious Emblem program of their faith do to the diversity of scouting units of the Diocese.

Program Completion

Upon completion of the program, the application form in the back of the book is signed by the applicant, the adult Mentor and by the priest moderator for the group. The parent/guardian will need to send the application along with the application fee of $21.00 made out to KDCCS.

If you would like to be a part of this youth ministry we could use your help on the committee of your choice. You do not have to have any Scouting back ground to serve on the committee, just a desire to help our youth grow in their faith.

Boy Scout Statement

The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) is responding to the recent Boy Scout vote by referring people to the statement made by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCC). The statement begins with: “On Monday, July 27, the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America ratified a resolution stating that no adults can be denied registration as employees or non-unit-serving volunteers of the Boy Scouts of America ‘on the basis of sexual orientation.’” Click here for the pdf version of the official statement: NCCS Statement-July 27 2015
