Notre Dame High School celebrates 140 years

Elizabeth Agnes Garrigus, Notre Dame High School Class of 1941, was recognized as the senior alumna at the school’s anniversary celebration.

On October 6, Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga celebrated its 140th anniversary.

Bishop Stika celebrated Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul. Father Mike Nolan (Class of 1978) gave the homily.

The celebration continued with a dinner and party for alumni and supporters of Notre Dame at Stratton Hall.

In 1876, the Dominican Sisters of the St. Cecilia Community in Nashville opened Notre Dame Academy in Chattanooga at the request of Father Patrick Ryan, the pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
