Bishop Richard F. Stika will celebrate a Mass to mark the 35th anniversary of his priestly ordination at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments has supported Bishop Richard F. Stika’s decision earlier this year, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, to suspend the distribution of Communion on tongue at public Masses in the Diocese of Knoxville.
Effective Nov. 28-29, Bishop Richard F. Stika reissued guidance of proper protocols to remain in place at Masses during the COVID-19 threat. Bishop Stika also reminds the faithful that their obligation to attend Mass is currently dispensed.
