The Diocese of Knoxville recognizes the importance of a strong relationship with the media. The Office of Communications acts as a liaison between the Bishop and media outlets and as a resource for information about the Church and the ministries of our diocesan agencies and departments.
With the understanding that stories and issues involving the Catholic faith and Christianity often require more than a sentence or soundbite to explain, we ask that you contact the Office of Communications with any interview requests you might have. We are happy to suggest and arrange interview opportunities through the many resources we have available.
The Diocese of Knoxville is geographically vast, covering 36 counties in East Tennessee. The diocese has 51 parish and mission churches spread throughout rural areas, small towns, and larger cities– Knoxville, Chattanooga, Crossville, Kingsport, and Johnson City. There are roughly 70,000 registered Catholics living and worshiping in our diocese – and we have nearly doubled in size since our diocese was created by Saint John Paul II in 1988.
The diocese has ten Catholic schools including high schools located in Chattanooga and Knoxville.
The Diocese of Knoxville is served by more than 80 priests and more than 100 deacons. We are blessed to have more than 20 religious orders serving in various capacities.
