The Diocese of Knoxville recognizes the importance of a strong relationship with the media. Our goal is to make all aspects of our Catholic faith available to everyone. The office of communications will act as a liaison between the Bishop and media outlets as a resource for information about our Church and the ministries of our diocesan agencies and departments.
The Diocese of Knoxville is vast, covering 36 counties in East Tennessee. We have 51 parish and mission churches spread throughout rural areas, small towns, and our larger cities– Knoxville, Chattanooga, Crossville, Kingsport, and Johnson City. There are roughly 66,000 registered Catholics now living and worshiping in our diocese– we have nearly doubled in size since our diocese was created by Saint John Paul II in 1988.
The Diocese of Knoxville is served by more than 80 priests and more than 70 deacons. We are blessed to have 14 religious orders serving our diocese in various capacities.
The office of communications is available to assist in your media needs. With the understanding that issues involving Catholic and Christian faith are sometimes difficult to explain in a short sentence or soundbite, we ask that you contact office of communications with any interview requests you may have. With so many resources, we are happy to suggest and arrange interview opportunities for you.
