Podcast discusses sacrament of marriage and Theology of the Body

In her latest episodes of Scripture and the Spiritual Life, Sister Anna Marie McGuan discusses the sacrament of marriage, the unity of husbands and wives, and St. John Paul II’s Theology of Body. The talks were originally for the Office of Marriage Preparation and Enrichment’s Call to Love Conference and can help couples understand the call to make one another holy.  You can listen to the first of the three-part series here.

The Virtues Free videos to help couples in isolation

In these trying times of social distancing and forced closed proximity with family members, tensions can rise in our relationships that are destructive to the marriage and the family. This is a time for us to remember the importance of four important virtues in our life: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance. The absence of these is detrimental to any relationship. To the extent that we practice them we build up our relationships within the family and beyond.

Moderation and prudence, justice and fortitude… nothing in life is more useful than these.” Wisdom 8:7

We at SIX DATES want to share four short videos on these virtues to benefit all couples locked up in their homes feeling bored or stressed or anxious. We offer these videos FREE during this COVID-19 crisis.

Bishop Richard F. Stika’s message to married couples Taking care of your marriage from the very beginning should be a priority. However, the seasons and cycles of marriage bring change. Those early days of dating, with long talks and feelings of being so close that nothing could ever be more important than each other, make way for family life and children, maintaining a home, jobs, career changes, and all the many challenges that occur in daily life. Today’s couples express a desire for a deep friendship and good communication with their spouse. They want to feel connected at the deepest level of their covenant bond. Sometimes they wake up one morning and say, “What happened?” This can happen early in marriage, during the middle years of raising a family, when they are experiencing the “empty nest” transition after the children leave home, or in their senior years. Couples want to appreciate all that they have in their lives and to recapture the deep friendship, great love, and oneness that are the desire of every married person’s heart. Marriage-enrichment opportunities offer couples a chance to deepen their spirituality, improve their communication, work on financial issues, break old patterns of hurt, and learn to forgive.
