SUPPORT OUR DEACONS Special Collection

This special collection helps to support the formation of permanent deacons for the Church in East Tennessee.

In 2022, 24 men from across from across East Tennessee were ordained to the permanent diaconate for the Diocese of Knoxville. They now serve as deacons in parishes and ministries throughout our diocese – truly living out a life of service to God and His Church!

A permanent deacon shares in the mission of Christ and is ordained to be a witness to the Gospel through a life of service. The diocese provides a five-year program for the formation of permanent deacons. Deacons bring the Gospel and the gift of themselves to soup kitchens, food banks, prisons, hospitals – serving in their parish and in the community.
