The National Secretariat and National Staff extended a warm welcome to Father Alex Waraksa who was named National Spiritual Advisor for the Cursillo Movement in the United States. He has served as the Cursillo Region 4 spiritual advisor since 2009. Father Alex grew up in Oak Ridge and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Knoxville in 1990. He is currently the associate pastor of St. Patrick Church in Morristown and serves as this Five Rivers Deanery coordinator of Hispanic Ministry. Over the last 23 years, Father Alex has served in 10 different parishes–five as associate pastor and five as pastor. He has also served as the diocesan youth director, director of the Office of Worship and Liturgy and as a teacher at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. Father Alex made his first Cursillo weekend in 1997 and has served on the most Cursillo weekends since then.
