Rite of Election - Cumberland and Smoky Mountain Deaneries

In light of the ongoing pandemic and recommended restrictions, the Rite of Election has been delegated to each parish. This will take the place of the originally scheduled Diocesan Rite of Election. 

The Rite of Election includes the enrollment of all the catechumens seeking baptism at the coming Easter Vigil. The catechumens publicly express their desire for baptism to the diocesan bishop. Their names are recorded in a book and they are called the Elect.
