It’s no secret that the downturn in the economy has really hurt many in need in recent years – and this has had an extreme impact on many Catholic families and their ability to afford Catholic schools. From our largest parishes and schools to our smallest, the need to teach and spread the faith is fundamental. Indeed, there are truly few things more important than the education of our children.
Through the Catholic Education Trust Fund, children have been able to attend Catholic schools and parishes have invested in needed resources to teach the faith. Established through the GiFT campaign in 2004, the Catholic Education Trust Fund has had a profound impact in providing support for Catholic education across East Tennessee.
How does the Catholic Education Trust Fund help?
- In less than 10 years since its inception, the fund has provided $2.75 million dollars in supplemental tuition assistance to Catholic school children of families most in need of financial support.
- The fund has also provided $850,000 for parish-based religious education and faith formation needs across the Diocese. Each parish in the Diocese has access to these funds and nearly every parish has benefited directly from projects or programs provided through Catholic Education Trust Fund grants.
How can you help?
There are many children not currently enrolled in Catholic schools who, with financial support, would like to take advantage of the opportunity to receive a Catholic school education. As the Catholic Education Trust Fund grows, more financial support will be available.
If you have been a beneficiary of Catholic school education (or even if you haven’t) please consider a gift to the Catholic Education Trust Fund so that future children can receive the same opportunity you had – the opportunity for a quality Catholic school education.
No child should have to forsake a Catholic school education because his or her family can not afford it.
Making a gift to the Catholic Education Trust Fund
There are many ways to contribute to the Catholic Education Trust Fund with a one-time gift, a multi-year pledge of support, gift of appreciated stock or even a planned gift as part of your estate plan.
