Cardinal Justin Rigali presided at the diocese’s annual Red Mass, celebrating a special liturgy for members of the legal profession, on Oct. 4 at Immaculate

Conception Church in downtown Knoxville.

Five judges and a number of attorneys attended the liturgy. Cardinal Rigali wore red vestments, the color representing the Holy Spirit, for the Mass, which is a centuries-old tradition in the Church.

Concelebrating the Mass were IC pastor Father Ron Franco, CSP, and associate pastor Father Jerry Tully, CSP. Deacon Patrick Murphy-Racey assisted.

In attendance were Juvenile Court Judge Tim Irwin, Chancellor John Weaver, Judge Bruce Guyton, Circuit Court Judge Debbie Stevens, and State Court of Appeals Judge Charles Susano.
