Bishop Richard F. Stika offers prayer following violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6:
As Catholics, we believe that we are the body of Christ. This is not a figure of speech. Each of us is firmly and truly a part of Him, in a very real and physical way. As we move forward from the troubling events of this week, as Catholics and as members of the body of Christ, I pray that we find a common purpose in the goodness that is available to all of us through Him. Jesus told us “Peace I leave you; my peace I give to you… Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” Let us seek peace, understanding, and love for one another, through Him. Amen.
