Diocesan Youth Ministry Advisory Council – DYMAC 2012-2013

DYMAC, or the Diocesan Youth Ministry Advisory Council, is a group of teenagers from the Diocese who help the Youth Ministers plan entire youth events, such as Sleepless, Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), and the Diocesan Youth Mass. The DYMAC is responsible for icebreakers, menus, t-shirts, picking the activities, retreat themes, and so much more! Serving on DYMAC is a commitment to participate in monthly meetings and youth events.

The Diocese of Knoxville is divided into four deaneries: Smoky Mountain, Cumberland Mountain Five Rivers, and Chattanooga. Each of these deaneries chooses representatives to be on DYMAC. These representatives get feedback from their parishes or deaneries to bring to the DYMAC, and then take the results of the DYMAC meetings back to their parishes to discuss the plans and events. This way, as much of the Diocese as possible has a hand in planning the events.

DYMAC does what?

1.      Represent your Parish, Deanery, or Diocesan Office to the Diocese

2.      Plan, Lead, and Evaluate diocesan activities and events.

3.      Communicate with other teens and Youth Ministers about diocesan or deanery events

4.      Advise Youth Ministers and the Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry about any concerns, conflicts, or resources.

5.      Develop Youth Ministry in parishes and high schools
