Mission statement

The Office of Marriage Preparation and Enrichment seeks to assist all diocesan couples as they respond to God’s call to holiness through the vocation of marriage. This ministry provides our parishes with resources to support married and engaged couples as they endeavor to strengthen their covenant bond while proclaiming the presence of Jesus Christ within their families and through their daily lives.

“To set out on the path of the married vocation means to learn married love day by day, year by year: love according to soul and body, love that ‘is patient, is kind, that does not insist on its own way . . . and does not rejoice at wrong’; love that ‘rejoices in the right,’ love that ‘endures all things.’”
—Pope John Paul II’s apostolic letter Dilecti Amici, 1985, No. 10

Marriage preparation

The Diocese of Knoxville’s marriage-preparation process aims to help engaged couples more fully understand the church’s beautiful vision of marriage and equip them with the information and tools necessary to deal with the day-to-day joys and struggles of married life. If you’re planning to get married, begin your marriage preparation process by contacting your local parish. The links on this site provide an overview of the journey you will undertake to look beyond the wedding day and on to the lifetime of joy that awaits you both:

Marriage enrichment

Enrichment opportunities will re-energize your marriage and deepen your commitment to your covenant bond. Couples are encouraged to take quality time to enhance their communication and build a stronger marital and family foundation. Programs are designed to benefit couples of all ages and at all stages.
